Job Title: High School Mathematics Tutor

Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced math teacher who is proficient in all math courses in the Ontario curriculum. Our goal is to find someone who is passionate about education and how to improve it as well as someone who is interested in how people think and finding the best ways to convey information to them. Given the state of Ontario's education system due to the difficulties of learning under lockdown last year, students are far behind in their fundamental knowledge and need help more than ever. A successful tutor can make a name for themselves very quickly.

Responsibilities and duties:

• Schedule tutoring appointments with parents and students and arrive on time and prepared for the day's lesson

• Must be able to conduct private, semi private and/or group sessions

• Create educational materials to further demonstrate subject matter to be covered in tutoring sessions

• Assess the progress of assigned students from session to session to ensure effective processes

• Plan creative lessons to engage and educate students

• Establish a friendly, encouraging and welcoming environment for students

• Connect with parents and keep them informed of student's progress and areas to be improved

• Promote high standards for academic success and behavior and continually encourage students to meet them

Qualifications and skills:

• An OCT certification is preferred, but not required

• At least 2 years of either teaching experience at a public or private institution or at least 2 years of private tutoring experience

• Proficiency i and teaching/ tutoring experience in the following courses: MPM1D, MPM2D, MCR3U, MHF4U, MCV4U and MDM4U

• Passion and excitement for the subject being taught

• Ability to produce practice examples that reflect the student's lecture content, homework and/or assignments

• Professional experience preparing lesson plans and personalized instruction

• Experience working with children in a supervised setting

• Extensive theoretical and practical understanding of the subject to be taught

• Ability to teach students at the high school level at varying levels of understanding and proficiency
